Love Affair with Tents

BC’s provincial campsites opened up for bookings last week which got me thinking about tents… From Saskatchewan to BC, tents have a power over me. Is it my ‘coureur des bois’ blood and heritage, my love of the outdoors, my attraction to all that is simple and clean in its expression, or the color white in our green and blue natural setting? Now rather than pitching my own, I enjoy staying in tents pitched by others!

Camping, or ‘Glamping’ as it’s being called these days has made our tenting experiences in the last few years more refined to say the least!  The Red Snowshoe and Clayoquot Wilderness Resort were both standouts. Seems natural for us – even the church we got married in looks like a teepee tent.

My sister ‘Mame’

I was not aware that back when I was as young as 5 and my sister, Louise was 3, we were already practicing for her future career. Her idea of fun play was to ask me to sit in front of her, while she stood on a chair, wave her hands around while she sang. The most important part of this scenario was when she bowed and my role was to clap!

Here we are 40 (actually 50 but not sure want to divulge…) years later - from Mama Mia, Les Miserables, Piaf and now Mame, from Paris, New York, Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa etc. and I am no longer alone clapping. Bravo! Louise, we are so proud of your accomplishments.

Below are the wonderful costumes, Louise will be wearing for her upcoming role as Auntie Mame at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Connecticut (April 20 – July 1).
